Map View
The Map view provides dispatchers with a visual representation of task locations, technicians, and their anticipated routes for a given day. Dispatchers can also view and schedule open tasks from this module which replicates the functionality found in the Open Tasks module in the List View.
View the Location of Technicians and Open Tasks
To access the Map View, first, go to the Task Scheduling > Dispatch Console > Map View module.
Viewing Task Locations
To find a Task Location, zoom in and out from the map and click on any of the Task icons. Doing so will bring up a tooltip showing more detailed information about the task such as the Customer Name, Site Name, Region, Task ID, Scheduled Start Time, and Task Status. You can also single out one or more tasks by selecting them from the Task datagrid on the left.
Task Location: The location of the Task is the location of the Customer Site where the Task is to be performed.
Task Icon Color: The color of the Task icon matches the color associated with the Task status. In the example below, because the task status = Dispatched, the Task icon is represented in blue.
Viewing Technicians
To find a Technician, zoom in and out from the map and click on any of the Technician icons. Doing so will bring up a tooltip showing more detailed information about the Technician, such as the Technician’s Name, Region, and Last Seen date and time (the last time the technician was online). You can also single out one or more Technicians by selecting them from the “Technician” dropdown filter at the top of the page.
Technician Location: The location of the Technician comes from their last shared geo-location via their mobile app.
Technician Color Code: The route and icon color of a technician will match the color indicator displayed in the “Technician” dropdown menu at the top of the page.
Viewing Technician Routes
NEW (23.4)
In addition to showing tasks and technicians, the Map View also gives dispatchers a color-coded view of each technician's optimized route for a given day. The elements of the route are as follows:
Home Base: This technician's home base is shown a “house” icon and indicates their starting point for the day. For more information on configuring a technician’s home base, visit the Technicians page.
Optimized Route: The route the technician is expected to follow is shown as a line connecting the user’s home base to the user’s assigned tasks in sequential order. The route is calculated using Google Maps API which takes into account traffic and the start time of the task. Note that the line color of the technician’s route will match the color indicator displayed in the “Technician” dropdown filter at the top of the page.
Assigned Tasks: Each task assigned to that technician is shown as a map pin with its color tied to the status of the task.
Show Map Routes Toggle: At any time, you have the option of turning map routes on or off by toggling the “Show Routes” switch at the top of the map.
To edit the Home Base associated with a Technician, navigate to Workforce > Field Force > Technicians and click the “Edit” button next to the applicable Technician.
Search and Filter
NEW (23.4)
Use the search bar and filters at the top of the screen to display specific tasks and technicians. The Map View comes with the following filters:
Date: Selecting a date, allows you to view the tasks scheduled to be completed on that day, as well as the relevant technicians and their expected routes for that day. Today’s date is selected by default.
Task Type: Allows you to filter by Task Type. If selected, only tasks of that Task Type and the technicians assigned to those tasks will be displayed in the Map View.
Technician: Allows you to filter by Technician. If selected, only the technicians you select and their assigned tasks will be displayed in the Map View.
Regions: Allows you to filter by Region. If selected, only the technicians assigned to the selected regions and tasks located in those regions (matching the Region of the Customer Site associated with the task) will be displayed in the Map View.
Status: Allows you to filter by task status. If selected, only tasks of that status and the technicians assigned to those tasks will be displayed in the Map View.
“Open” Tasks: To provide dispatchers with better information to use when assigning open tasks, the Map View will always display all “Open” tasks – regardless of the filters selected – unless you specifically de-select the “Open” status from the “Status” filter. In addition, if an “Open” task does NOT have a scheduled start time, it will be visible on every date, regardless of the date selected in the Date filter.
